About
Dr. Ashley Cooper-Leonhart is a Florida licensed mental health counselor and qualified supervisor. She has vast experience working with individuals, couples and teens, offering counseling for a variety of presenting problems, such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma and more. Throughout her years as a clinician, Dr. Ashley has worked in an array of settings including group practice, substance abuse recovery, and community mental health. She is deeply passionate about treating clients of all ages and works to support and empower by utilizing evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She also has extensive experience working with trauma and utilizes Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT) and is EMDR trained.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Ashley moved to Coral Gables, Florida to attend the University of Miami where she received her Bachelor’s degree. She later returned to school to earn her Master of Science in Applied Psychology from Lynn University and completed her Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision at Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Ashley also serves as an Associate Professor for the Master of Science in Clinical Counseling program (Online) at Carlos Albizu University. She also assists counselors in training who are working toward their clinical licensure.
Outside of the office, she is a published author and enjoys enhancing the field of Counseling through conducting research, publishing, and presenting at conferences. Most of all, Dr. Ashley loves spending time with her husband and daughter, as well as their two dogs.
